昨日は夫の友人で顧客のFの家でパーティーでした。
Last night, we went to an end-of-year party at F's place. F has been a good friend and client of my husband.
私はパーティーは苦手なのですが、こちらでは夫婦で参加するのが一般的なので仕方ないです。。。
I don't like parties, but because it's like a rule for married couples to go there together, so I had to bite the bullet.
まずは、バケツに一杯の牡蠣をみんなが勝手にナイフでこじ開けて生で食べていました。
The first thing I sew when we got there was a bunch of people surrounding a bucket full of fresh oysters.
Using a knife, they were opening & eating oysters one after another.
それと、Fは羊も飼っているので、毎年恒例のコレ。
F is also a farmer, this is a tradition of his party -- a whole sheep roast!

機械は地元のハイヤーセンターで借りた物です。
He hired the machine from a local hire centre.
それと、みんなが気になっていた大きな街灯。
And what's this? A street light?
どこで手に入れたのでしょうね。
Everyone was wondering where he'd got it.
夫の仲間と話をしているうちに、来週の金曜日にテニスのダブルスの試合をすることになり、
夫のパートナーが見つからないというので私がプレイする約束をしてしまいました。
My husband and his friends were talking about having a doubles tennis match next Friday,
but he was having trouble finding his partner; so I said I would be his partner.
でも、在宅で仕事をしている私は万年運動不足状態。
However, I work from home. I'm permanently unfit.
なので、長女にプレゼントを買ってあげる約束をして毎日練習相手になってもらうことにしました。
So, I promised my eldest to buy a present if she played tennis with me everyday until Friday.
ビール１ダースがかかっているので必死ですよ～。
Well, losers have to buy a dozen beer -- we have to win!
